Well, yet another eventful evening last night. While baking cookies for my bake sale fundraiser I noticed a puddle of water on the floor. Turns out my refrigerator decided to turn into a furnace and all of my frozen foods were thawing out rapidly. It being 11p there was no way I was going to call my landlord. I figured if I left the doors closed it would hold in what cool air there was and I’d call the landlord right away this morning. As the night went on I started getting worried the frozen foods wouldn’t stay cold enough and decided it would be better to cook what I could and pray for the best with the rest… by this time it was 3a.
Now with all (or as much as I could do before passing out from exhaustion) of my frozen food cooked I realized it didn’t really matter since the fridge wasn’t working either… so I decided to eat as much as I could and leave the rest in the fridge and pray it wouldn’t spoil. Don’t be shocked at my calorie count for the day. I am almost double what I budgeted for but let me point out that my 2 days of tennis (not to mention cleaning yesterday) have more than covered the extra food.
By this morning my hamburger was thawed and my Hot Pockets box was mush. Of course, it was only after calling the landlord (who showed up with 2 coolers and a couple of ice packs only to run out for ice) that I thought to ask a neighbor to use his freezer until mine could be replaced (didn’t figure 3a would be a good time to ask since it was actually quiet down there for a change). I was feeling pretty brilliant by then! So, until my landlord can find a new fridge my “bad-for-me” foods are at my neighbors and the rest of the cooked food is in 2 coolers where my fridge used to be (fridge is sitting by the door waiting to be hauled out tomorrow)
So let’s get on with it…
